The weather is warming and it is time to cast off the shackles of winter and burst out that front door and back into the warm world. The ice is out. The bikes are primed. And it is only a matter of time before the beaches open. As those first tiny buds of green spring up from the ground, it's a great time to get back in touch with eating green. Healthier eating does not have to be limited to cold juice and kale. These are the best places to treat yourself, inside and out.

People’s Organic has several locations around the metro, with counter service and ample seating. Menus are filled with inspiring options like Minnesota wild rice pancakes, hummus harissa and cucumber tartines and a red lentil burger that leaves diners wondering why they don’t eat healthy more often. The fast casual eatery currently has three locations in the Twin Cities, serving an array of super fresh, clean eating options like salads, wraps and yogurt bowls for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Salads are an obvious choice in warmer weather, and the seasonal El Taco Loco, featuring delicate carnita meat and a sweet Mexican street corn vinaigrette is both substantial and refreshing. Whole Sum Kitchen is the newest addition to the food-truck-to-bricks-and-mortar landscape. The sunny, playful space in South Minneapolis opened just before the holidays, and owner Evan Tepper hopes the casual eatery will become a go-to for neighborhood families in search of healthful, accessible alternatives for post-soccer dinners and working freelancers of all ages looking for a welcoming spot to hang. The menu is still evolving, but the smoothie bowls are not to be missed.
Regardless of the impetus behind the decision to consume a more healthful diet, Agra Culture is committed to your journey toward better health. What the restaurant has termed “food revolution” apparently includes yummy options like a steak and peppers sandwich, a crisp and fresh Ensalada Mexicana and a fancy, deeply flavorful sushi bowl.

Inside the new bakery cafe, there is a mindblowing winter salad that's deeply satisfying and perfectly paired with a warm cup of bone broth. Each ingredient is cared for and ideal for when you're in need of a little self-care morning, noon and night.
French Meadow was the first Certified Organic Bakery in the country, and now there are two locations, where one can grab breakfast, lunch or dinner, all with an organic focus. The original Minneapolis location added a bar in 2013 called Bluestem, offering full table service, a selection of sustainable wines and local taps, and a private dining room.
Tao Food’s focus on Taoist philosophy of "health through a simple, balanced life in harmony with nature" has kept Uptowners happier and healthier since 1968. Through several incarnations, the deli, practically an institution in Minneapolis, has continued to offer organic dishes and what they call "healing beverages". The eatery also houses a store that sells supplements, natural products and books. If you like a little acupuncture with your avocado sprout sandwich, you’re in luck. Incredibly fresh, organic, thoughtfully sourced deli fare is always delicious. If you're craving carbs, there are bagels available, but the salads always snag our hearts.
