The small styrofoam cups with lids seem cheaper than ziplocks at the
warehouse stores. Has anyone used these? I am thinking I could write on the cup with a sharpie.  |

| | If you are looking for single-serve portions of soup for lunches, I'm assuming that they will have to be re-heated in a microwave. I don't know about all microwaves, but my microwave will melt the styrofoam way before the soup is hot. You might have to spend a little extra money to buy plastic containers that will withstand the heat of the microwave--something like the Chinese places give you soup-to-go in. If you plan to pop the soup out of the styrofoam cup into something that is microwave proof before heating, then that will probably work. |

| For your health and the environment .......... please do not use styrofoam or plastic. Do not microwave any of that. Buy some corning ware dishes and heat up your food. |

| I am in the process of preparing gallons of soup and chili for my lunches in January and February. We went out and invested a few dollars into microwave safe plastic dishes that we can freeze and reheat the food in. They are relatively inexpensive and can be reused many times. |

Styro containers aren't able to be sealed securely.
So I think your food would get freezer burn and dried out.

Have you ever noticed that when you leave a styrofoam cup sitting around all day with coffee in it that often it starts to weep liquid? That's a problem in regards to keeping anything in them long term, the fact that they are so porous.And heating them up in a microwave causes them to break down even more. You can get decent hard containers with lids at the supermarket, that can be frozen and microwaved numerous times, for about 50 cents each in packs of four. I'd put your soup in those. |

go to the deli and ask.
go to an independent store before a chain store- many stores will give you these....or just charge very little |
