I'm a regular person? Wow! Whoda thunk it.

- Without looking them up, see if you can name 4 songs or movies or books or a combination of those with each of the four directions in the title. Just one per direction.

East:
West:
North:
South:
Can't think of any that haven't already been mentioned.

- What's the first thing you do when you see a spider inside your home?

Back off.

- If you lost an hour this past weekend, why do people assume it came out of your sleep? Did you really sleep one hour less on Spring Forward or did you just get up an hour later on Sunday but still slept the same number of hours you usually do?

slept the same.

Your Phone

- What’s on your phone's home page?
whatever it came with.

- If the time is on your phone's homepage, is it a large font and where on the page is it located? Does it include seconds? How is the date written out? All numbers or words and numbers? Did you choose the time and date display or is it the default one?
I'd probably classify it as small. I left it as is.

- When you are inside a store, do you ever pull out your phone to check the date to see if food is fresh or do you always know the date? Do you put a food shopping list on your phone?
nope.

- Do you prefer a dark font on a light color or white background or the opposite, a white or light colored font on a dark background on your phone? If you wear a watch is it just like your phone, light numbers on a dark face or dark numbers on a white face?
no preference. I wear the watch I got when I retired. White background, gold colored fonts.

- Do you rearrange your apps' icons frequently? From page to page or just within a page? Do you use some kind of order to arranging your apps or do you just leave them on the page they fall on when you install them?
Didn't know that was possible but probably wouldn't do it anyway.

- What is the last NON-financial or NON-security app you added to your phone?
The only app I've added (actually the guy at the store added for me) is the music app.

- When is the last time you got a new phone? Was it because you just wanted a new one? The old one broke? You got a better deal? It was bundled with other phones in your home? You wanted a bigger/smaller one? You wanted a better camera? Something else?
Last year. I was having so many problems with the previous one, I got a new more expensive one that works.

Does the color of your phone matter to you?
not in the least.

I've been on City-Data since 2006 (18 years +) and PJSaturn told me something I never knew about how to add emoticons to an edited post. Thanks, Pam. Will try. Just goes to show, we're never too old to learn something new... but then we get dementia and forget anyway. lol

thanks, Laura. Good luck with the new phone. If it's any comfort, by the time you get it all figured out, it'll be outdated anyway. Reply With Quote Quick reply to this message

Without looking them up, see if you can name 4 songs or movies or books or a combination of those with each of the four directions in the title. Just one per direction.

East: East of the Sun, and West of the Moon, is a song
West: ^^
North: North to Alaska
South: Song of the South

- What's the first thing you do when you see a spider inside your home? If it’s tiny I kill it, if it’s bigger, I try to put it outside.

- If you lost an hour this past weekend, why do people assume it came out of your sleep? Did you really sleep one hour less on Spring Forward or did you just get up an hour later on Sunday but still slept the same number of hours you usually do? The dogs inner clock got us up at 5:30.

Your Phone

- What’s on your phone's home page? Granddaughter

- If the time is on your phone's homepage, is it a large font and where on the page is it located? Does it include seconds? How is the date written out? All numbers or words and numbers? Did you choose the time and date display or is it the default one? Default, no seconds.

- When you are inside a store, do you ever pull out your phone to check the date to see if food is fresh or do you always know the date? Do you put a food shopping list on your phone? I take a picture of the list on the fridge. I sometimes check the date on my phone.

- Do you prefer a dark font on a light color or white background or the opposite, a white or light colored font on a dark background on your phone? If you wear a watch is it just like your phone, light numbers on a dark face or dark numbers on a white face? Dark numbers on light face.

- Do you rearrange your apps' icons frequently? From page to page or just within a page? Do you use some kind of order to arranging your apps or do you just leave them on the page they fall on when you install them? I hardly ever rearrange them.

- What is the last NON-financial or NON-security app you added to your phone? Signal. It encrypts text messages.

- When is the last time you got a new phone? Was it because you just wanted a new one? The old one broke? You got a better deal? It was bundled with other phones in your home? You wanted a bigger/smaller one? You wanted a better camera? Something else? I forget, exactly, but I only get a new one when the old one stops working right.

Does the color of your phone matter to you? Not really. I keep a cover on it.

In case you don't have one there are a few questions up front for you.

- Without looking them up, see if you can name 4 songs or movies or books or a combination of those with each of the four directions in the title. Just one per direction.

East: I give up, the hardest question ever.
West:
North:
South:

- What's the first thing you do when you see a spider inside your home? Terminate it

- If you lost an hour this past weekend, why do people assume it came out of your sleep? Did you really sleep one hour less on Spring Forward or did you just get up an hour later on Sunday but still slept the same number of hours you usually do?

I went to bed at the usual time and got up at the usual time so yes, lost an hour of sleep.

Your Phone

- What’s on your phone's home page? Pic of my two grandkids

- If the time is on your phone's homepage, is it a large font and where on the page is it located? Does it include seconds? How is the date written out? All numbers or words and numbers? Did you choose the time and date display or is it the default one?

Large time as 00:00, small day and date above it, I chose.

- When you are inside a store, do you ever pull out your phone to check the date to see if food is fresh or do you always know the date? Do you put a food shopping list on your phone?

I just look for the item with the latest date, often in the back of the row. Yes, I’ll do a list on the phone.

- Do you prefer a dark font on a light color or white background or the opposite, a white or light colored font on a dark background on your phone? If you wear a watch is it just like your phone, light numbers on a dark face or dark numbers on a white face?

Light on dark, on both.

- Do you rearrange your apps' icons frequently? From page to page or just within a page? Do you use some kind of order to arranging your apps or do you just leave them on the page they fall on when you install them? No, they appear as I downloaded them and stay that way, 5 pages of them.

- What is the last NON-financial or NON-security app you added to your phone?

The app for my new watch last week when the Fitbit died.

- When is the last time you got a new phone? Was it because you just wanted a new one? The old one broke? You got a better deal? It was bundled with other phones in your home? You wanted a bigger/smaller one? You wanted a better camera? Something else?

I only got a new one after dropping the old one into a lake while fishing.

Does the color of your phone matter to you?

Yes, black only.

- Without looking them up, see if you can name 4 songs or movies or books or a combination of those with each of the four directions in the title. Just one per direction.

East: East of Eden (movie)

West: West End Girls (song by Pet Shop Boys), also of course West Side Story.

North: North by Northwest (movie)

South: South Side (song by Moby, Gwen Stefani, Foster the People, The Knocks)

- What's the first thing you do when you see a spider inside your home?

Shoo it onto a piece of paper and put it outside.

- If you lost an hour this past weekend, why do people assume it came out of your sleep? Did you really sleep one hour less on Spring Forward or did you just get up an hour later on Sunday but still slept the same number of hours you usually do?

Yeah.

Your Phone

- What’s on your phone's home page?

The unlock screen? Just the time, date, outside temperature, my watch battery status, easy access to flashlight and camera and my wallpaper which is an illustration of a retro arcade in various shades of pink, purple and turquoise.

- If the time is on your phone's homepage, is it a large font and where on the page is it located? Does it include seconds? How is the date written out? All numbers or words and numbers? Did you choose the time and date display or is it the default one?

Large near top and center (date above). No seconds. Digital clock style, light shade of turquoise. I chose it.

- When you are inside a store, do you ever pull out your phone to check the date to see if food is fresh or do you always know the date? Do you put a food shopping list on your phone?

Sometimes. I keep a list on my phone’s notes.

- Do you prefer a dark font on a light color or white background or the opposite, a white or light colored font on a dark background on your phone? If you wear a watch is it just like your phone, light numbers on a dark face or dark numbers on a white face?

Whichever looks the best and is easiest to read. Sometimes I switch it around. My watch is a black background with light text and numbers. The time including seconds, exercise minutes, moving minutes, standing minutes, temperature, date. I never change that one.

- Do you rearrange your apps' icons frequently? From page to page or just within a page? Do you use some kind of order to arranging your apps or do you just leave them on the page they fall on when you install them?

I’ll group similar ones together in a folder shortly after I download them. I never really rearrange them because it throws everything off.

- What is the last NON-financial or NON-security app you added to your phone?

A language translation app that I came across while looking for something else. I haven’t even looked at it yet.

- When is the last time you got a new phone? Was it because you just wanted a new one? The old one broke? You got a better deal? It was bundled with other phones in your home? You wanted a bigger/smaller one? You wanted a better camera? Something else?

Almost two years. My other one was old with bad battery life.

Does the color of your phone matter to you?

Not too much. A case is going to cover it anyway.

South: Mel Tillis - Southern rain

- What's the first thing you do when you see a spider inside your home? Normally kill it

- If you lost an hour this past weekend, why do people assume it came out of your sleep? Did you really sleep one hour less on Spring Forward or did you just get up an hour later on Sunday but still slept the same number of hours you usually do? This year just slept later; I wasn't on the tennis calendar. Other years I am scheduled for tennis on Sunday morning.

Your Phone

- What’s on your phone's home page? Didn't know it had one.

- Without looking them up, see if you can name 4 songs or movies or books or a combination of those with each of the four directions in the title. Just one per direction.

This was harder than I thought.

East: East Side, West Side (song but I don't know by what male person, I think the song is older than me) I remember:
East Side, West Side, all around the town
The tots sang Ring Around Rosie, London Bridge is Falling Down.

That's all I remember. I think it's referring to NYC

West: How The West Was Won (movie)
North: Life In a Northern Town (song by Little Big Town and Sugarland) This is the live one I have but someone else did it originally.)
South: Song of The South (movie)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJ5blxeFu4k

- What's the first thing you do when you see a spider inside your home? I scream, "&$!!#$&@!"

- If you lost an hour this past weekend, why do people assume it came out of your sleep? Did you really sleep one hour less on Spring Forward or did you just get up an hour later on Sunday but still slept the same number of hours you usually do? I slept less. The sunshine woke me up.

Your Phone

- What’s on your phone's home page? Date, time, battery power left, the call, messages, weather and camera icons plus the notifications drop down.

- If the time is on your phone's homepage, is it a large font and where on the page is it located? Does it include seconds? How is the date written out? All numbers or words and numbers? Did you choose the time and date display or is it the default one? I changed the way time and date is displayed to make it bigger. It doesn't include seconds. The date is written with words and numbers including the day of the week. It's located in the upper center of the page in a big black box.

- When you are inside a store, do you ever pull out your phone to check the date to see if food is fresh or do you always know the date? Do you put a food shopping list on your phone? Don't usually make lists. Never used any phone to do it BUT since I retired I never know what date it is when I am out so I do check my phone for that.

- Do you prefer a dark font on a light color or white background or the opposite, a white or light colored font on a dark background on your phone? If you wear a watch is it just like your phone, light numbers on a dark face or dark numbers on a white face? Phone is just like watch, white letters and numbers on a black background.

- Do you rearrange your apps' icons frequently? From page to page or just within a page? Do you use some kind of order to arranging your apps or do you just leave them on the page they fall on when you install them? I do rearrange my apps. All 3 of my camera club websites are together, all of my news websites are together, my two animal YouTube channels are together, my one game is on there. City-Data is on there but I can't type answers on my phone well enough to use it.

- What is the last NON-financial or NON-security app you added to your phone? My 3rd camera club's website.

- When is the last time you got a new phone? Was it because you just wanted a new one? The old one broke? You got a better deal? It was bundled with other phones in your home? You wanted a bigger/smaller one? You wanted a better camera? Something else? I got a new phone last week because Google took over what seems like everything on my old one and I don't have a Google phone. Shame on you, Samsung. All I wanted from Google was the search engine. I don't sync my devices. I don't want Google texting or futzing around with anything else on it, prompting me for anything and I never use gmail. Also, I dropped it and cracked the screen.

Does the color of your phone matter to you? Nah. Can't see it with the protective cover, anyway. Black is fine.

East: Movie - East of Eden
West: Movie - All Quiet on the Western Front
North: Movie - North By Northwest
South: Movie - Song of the South

- What's the first thing you do when you see a spider inside your home? Grab a tissue and kill it.

- If you lost an hour this past weekend, why do people assume it came out of your sleep? Did you really sleep one hour less on Spring Forward or did you just get up an hour later on Sunday but still slept the same number of hours you usually do? I did not sleep well on Saturday night, and it was unrelated to the change to Daylight Saving Time.

Your Phone

- What’s on your phone's home page? A photo I took of some crocuses in my garden.

- If the time is on your phone's homepage, is it a large font and where on the page is it located? No. It's a very tiny font in the upper left corner. Does it include seconds? No. How is the date written out? There's no date on my home page All numbers or words and numbers? N/A Did you choose the time and date display or is it the default one? It's a default setting. I've had my "new" phone for about four months, and I have yet to figure out how to change the time setting on the home page.

- When you are inside a store, do you ever pull out your phone to check the date to see if food is fresh or do you always know the date? I know the date. Do you put a food shopping list on your phone? No. I wouldn't even know how. I write a list on paper.

- Do you prefer a dark font on a light color or white background or the opposite, a white or light colored font on a dark background on your phone? Are you asking about text fonts? My default is black letters and numbers on a white background. If you wear a watch is it just like your phone, light numbers on a dark face or dark numbers on a white face? I wear a Fitbit, and the time is indicated in white and green on a black background. The hour is in white and the minutes are in green.

- Do you rearrange your apps' icons frequently? Nope. I have no idea how to do that. From page to page or just within a page? Do you use some kind of order to arranging your apps or do you just leave them on the page they fall on when you install them? I just leave them where they fall, since I don't know how to rearrange them.

- What is the last NON-financial or NON-security app you added to your phone? TAP Portugal Airline.

- When is the last time you got a new phone? About four months ago, I think. Was it because you just wanted a new one? The Android program was outdated and the phone no longer synced with my car's navigation system. It was time for an update anyway. The old one broke? Nope. You got a better deal? I got a good deal through Tracfone. It was bundled with other phones in your home? Nope. You wanted a bigger/smaller one? The new one is a bit larger. You wanted a better camera? Don't care about that. Something else? See above.

Does the color of your phone matter to you? Nopey.

I've been on City-Data since 2006 (18 years +) and PJSaturn told me something I never knew about how to add emoticons to an edited post. Thanks, Pam. Will try. Just goes to show, we're never too old to learn something new... but then we get dementia and forget anyway. I'm always amazed at how much there is to learn about C-D. Once in a while, someone enlightens me about something technical that I'd never enountered before. So, you're not alone, LauraC. Thanks for today's questions!
