Thank you for today’s Questions: Has your furnace ever gone out in the dead of winter? Yes, on one of the few cold days in 2022-3. We got the filter cleaned, and then a few months later replaced it. Or, if you have A/C, has it ever died on a really hot day? At my parents' house in the hot summer of 1988. They wound up getting it fixed I think. If so, how did you deal with it?What is the hardest thing you've ever done? Some breakups, and telling my parents twice I was fired. What are some things that are easy for you? Writing a brief. You are hosting an imaginary dinner party. You may invite any five famous people, living or dead. Who will your guests be? A few bankruptcy and district court judges. My intended response would have been too POC. Today in History: 1455 – Traditionally the date of publication of the Gutenberg Bible, the first Western book printed with movable type. One of the most consequential developments ever. Let actual laity see what the Bible really said. And later, that led to what I'm doing now, typing on a PC at 5:34 in the morning. 1836 – Texas Revolution: The Siege of the Alamo (prelude to the Battle of the Alamo) begins in San Antonio, Texas. Precursor to the Republic of Texas. 1898 – Émile Zola is imprisoned in France after writing J'Accuse!, a letter accusing the French government of antisemitism and wrongfully imprisoning Captain Alfred Dreyfus. Very consequential and little-known part of history. 1945 – World War II: During the Battle of Iwo Jima, a group of United States Marines reach the top of Mount Suribachi on the island and are photographed raising the American flag. Photo was staged i n reenactment. 1974 – The Symbionese Liberation Army demands $4 million more to release kidnap victim Patty Hearst. Where is Symbion? (only kidding)

Bonjour Bay ! Today’s Questions: Has your furnace ever gone out in the dead of winter? Or, if you have A/C, has it ever died on a really hot day? If so, how did you deal with it? Here we have an air heat exchange system, a wood burner and electric radiators and this generally works well. I think our boiler once failed in the UK, but I do not recall any great hardship. Probably used an electric heater from somewhere. What is the hardest thing you've ever done? Answer this question. What are some things that are easy for you? Avoiding answers. You are hosting an imaginary dinner party. You may invite any five famous people, living or dead. Who will your guests be? Hmm. Maybe Charles Darwin, in order to ask about his inner angst on publishing his well known tome; Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall, a food writer and campaigner; Kevin McCloud, a designer best known for presenting a TV series on home builds; Boris Johnson, so that I could give him food poisoning; Stephen Fry, actor and presenter. Merci Bay !

Today’s Questions: Has your furnace ever gone out in the dead of winter? Or, if you have A/C, has it ever died on a really hot day? If so, how did you deal with it? No furnaces as an adult. A/C never broke but the electric power has gone off. Eh, when I was a kid no one had A/C in their home. We didn't have it in school or church, either. When it got too hot in the summer we went in a pool or to the ocean (lived on an island), sat out in the shade or went to a movie theater all day (2 feature movies with cartoon intermissions). It's only nowadays that I'm a hot temperature wuss. What is the hardest thing you've ever done? Talk to automated customer service on the telephone or chat without screaming at a non-person. Put a wood desk together without an electric screwdriver. Took me all day. It was dark when I got up and dark when I finished. I knew I was in trouble when screws were labeled DDDDD, EEEEE, FFFFF meaning it went through the whole alphabet of A-Z, AA - ZZ, AAA - ZZZ, AAAA - ZZZZ and AAAAA - ZZZZZ in screw labeling. My hands hurt for a few days. Don't want to talk about emotionally hard things. What are some things that are easy for you? persuasive report writing, analysis, procrastinating, test taking, remembering exactly where I read something. You are hosting an imaginary dinner party. You may invite any five famous people, living or dead. Who will your guests be? The last 3 are known big drinkers and should get along with each other, Churchill is funny/sarcastic, not just interesting and a good leader, Franklin and DaVinci were involved in a variety of original endeavors and could talk about a lot of different things, Martin is a winner, combative, Italian, always in trouble and was a favorite of mine when he was living and Poe is a favorite writer whose life I know about more than any other writer. Teddy Roosevelt will win the final spot because he's an outdoor adventurer not just a politician/president. All of these men are doers, not just talkers. The biggest loser in the group will be me since neither hosting nor dinner party are things I want to do. Leonardo DaVinci (but not if he can't speak English - then substitute Teddy Roosevelt) Benjamin Franklin Edgar Allan Poe Billy Martin Winston Churchill
