Flying Star Cafe

3416 Central Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106, United States   +1 5052556633

My overall experience in Flying Star Cafe was a bit of a mixed bag. The restaurant, with its eclectic and cozy atmosphere, is a popular choice in the area, but my visit left me with both positive and negative impressions.

Let’s start with the positives. The ambiance at Flying Star is undoubtedly charming. The quirky decor and comfortable seating create a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant has a distinct personality that sets it apart from other dining establishments in the area.

The menu is extensive, offering a wide range of options from breakfast to dinner, with a variety of choices for vegetarians and meat lovers alike. This restaurant is perceived as a real attraction in the culinary scene in Albuquerque.

I particularly enjoyed the breakfast selections, which were served all day. The huevos rancheros were a highlight, featuring flavorful salsa and perfectly cooked eggs. The coffee was also commendable, with a robust flavor that satisfied my caffeine cravings.

Visit Albuquerque and discover great New Mexican Food such as salsa, especially if your choice is Flying Star Cafe.

However, the positives were somewhat overshadowed by the service and pricing. The service was inconsistent, with moments of attentiveness followed by longer periods of neglect. Although it felt like the staff was overwhelmed during peak hours they still served great food, impacting the overall dining experience at one of the best places in Albuquerque.

Additionally, the prices seemed a bit high for the portion sizes and the overall quality of the dishes.

While the menu offers a diverse array of options, some of the dishes fell short of expectations. The chicken sandwich, for instance, was rather bland, lacking the flavor one would anticipate. This, combined with the higher-than-expected prices, left me feeling somewhat disappointed.

Flying Star in Albuquerque has its merits, particularly in terms of ambiance and certain breakfast items. However, the inconsistency in service and the relatively high prices may make it a hit-or-miss experience for some.

It’s worth trying for its unique charm but be prepared for a range of experiences depending on the day and time of your visit.

Range Cafe

320 Central Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM 87102, United States  +1 5052431440

We had a great dining experience at Range Cafe in Albuquerque. It was nothing short of delightful, and it’s easy to see why this local gem has garnered such a positive reputation.

The ambiance at Range Cafe strikes the perfect balance between rustic charm and modern comfort. The interior is tastefully decorated, with vibrant colors and Southwestern-inspired artwork contributing to the restaurant’s unique personality.

Now, let’s talk about the food. Range Cafe boasts a menu that showcases a fusion of flavors, with a focus on Southwestern and American cuisine. The variety of options caters to different tastes, and the use of fresh, local ingredients is evident in each dish.

During my visit, I sampled the green chili stew, a local favorite that lived up to its reputation. The robust flavors and just the right amount of spice made it a standout dish.

The service at Range Cafe was exceptional, with attentive and friendly staff members who added to the overall positive experience. The recommendations provided by the server were spot-on, and they were accommodating to dietary preferences, ensuring a personalized touch to the dining experience.

Another aspect worth mentioning is the generous portion sizes. Whether it was the hearty breakfast burrito or the flavorful grilled chicken salad, the servings were substantial without compromising on quality. You have to try the chicken salad at the restaurant near the University of New Mexico.

The eggs benedict was halved and toasted English muffin with bacon placed on top of the toasted English muffin.  The star of Eggs Benedict is the poached eggs, but they were carefully placed on top of the bacon, which kind of ruined my impression.

Range Cafe It’s a place that successfully combines local charm with a diverse and satisfying menu. If you’re looking for a restaurant that captures the essence of Southwestern cuisine in a welcoming setting, Range Cafe is definitely worth a visit.

I left with a full stomach and a smile, eager to return for another culinary adventure.
