Why are you changing the name?
In order to franchise we had to use a name that was not already in use in the states we are going to expand into. Multiple states already have a Little Bean Coffee, so we had to pick a new name.
Why did you pick Rivers Edge?
We wanted to pick a name that captured the community feel that Little Bean has created. We enjoy going to the river and one of our favorite places to be is sitting on the river’s edge in the morning, drinking coffee with friends and family. The river’s edge is a place to gather before something fun begins; going out in a boat, setting up for a day of fishing, putting sunscreen on to go swimming, or simply sitting and talking.
Is anything changing about the coffee shop itself?
Nope! It’s a lot like getting a good haircut. We’re still the same person underneath, just a little bit of an appearance change.
When will the changes take place?
Some changes will be immediate (like the new website) while others will happen gradually. Our goal is to have everything converted within the next month or two!
Franchising is a system where a person can own and operate their own Rivers Edge coffee shop. The franchisor (us) provides a manual and training that teaches the franchisee (person opening their own shop) how to run a Rivers Edge coffee shop.
One of our favorite things about owning a local coffee shop is how deeply involved we can get with our community. As we weighed our options for expansion, we realized that we would not be able to replicate that experience if we owned and operated all of our new stores. Instead of becoming a faceless, disconnected corporation who operates cafes from somewhere far away we decided to use franchising to allow our store operators the opportunity to become as connected to their local communities as we are to Mechanicsville. We also chose franchising because it allows us to help people achieve their dreams of becoming a small business owner. We know from firsthand experience that the hardest part of starting a business is starting it. Franchising allows people to bypass a lot of the growing pains that we went through by plugging into a system that is already established.
How did you establish the franchise?
We worked with the incredibly talented team at Franchise Marketing System. They have been helping companies create franchise systems for over ten years and are the best at what they do. We cannot wait to share what Chris and his team have helped us create!
Who do I talk to about opening my own Rivers Edge shop?

Yes, both Little Bean and Rivers Edge branded gift cards will work
Are punch cards still valid?
Yes, both Little Bean and Rivers Edge punch cards will be honored
Are free cards still valid?
Yes, both Little Bean and Rivers Edge free cards will be honored
Similar to the shop itself, the app will get a new name and face but will still function the same
Any disclaimers you’re required to post?
Yep! This is not a franchise offering. A franchise offering can be made by us only in a state if we are first registered, excluded, exempted or otherwise qualified to offer franchises in that state, and only if we provide you with an appropriate franchise disclosure document. Follow-up or individualized responses to you that involve either effecting or attempting to effect the sale of a franchise will be made only if we are first in compliance with state registration requirements, or are covered by an applicable state exclusion or exemption.
